The Kingdom of Jordan is a land with fasinating Historical sites
and amazing beauty. From the fertile Jordan Valley, to remote
desert canyons in Wadi Rum needless to say i certainly did not know
what to expect of this country.
Our trip started out with a 5 and ½ hour flight to Amman flying
with Royal Jordanian airlines who were brilliant. Fantastic onboard
entertainment with a huge selection of blockbuster movies.
Great food (by airline standards) and best of all free
drinks!!!
On arrival we headed straight to the Dead Sea resort located in
the Jordan Valley which is the lowest point on earth (418m below
sea level.) Here we got to smear ourselves in the rich mineral mud
,rumoured to have healing powers, and then clean ourselves off by
floating in the saline waters of the Dead Sea. A very memorable and
funny experience!!!
From the Dead Sea we travelled onto Wadi Rum which is basically
a huge desert with massive sand dunes and wild camels roaming
around. Here we followed in the footsteps of "Lawrence of Arabia"
and trekked around the huge rock formations and even spent the
night camping under the stars.
No travel to Jordan is complete without a trip to the historical
site of Petra one of the most stunning cities in the Middle East.
Petra was carved out of rock by the Nabatean people over 2,000
years ago. Here you travel through the deep gorge were you will be
faced with the grand "Treasury" Petra's most elaborate ruin. Emerse
yourself within the history that Petra has to offer from the
Monsastry or the High Place of Sacrifice but make sure you have
comfortable shoes on.
In summery Jordan certainly has something to offer everyone from
beach resorts to great diving sites, historical site to shopping
plazas. With great weather all year round its certainly should be
on everyones list as a must see place!!!!
